2006-05-13: Lord Mayor of “The City” Visits Manila |

We were surprised to read in the local press that City of London Lord Mayor Alderman David Brown is in Manila “to check out the business situation”. This is NOT the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, who has been very vocal in his opposition to the occupation of Iraq and who recently invited Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez for a visit. This is the Lord Mayor of “The City”, which is the financial capital of the world, though this seems unknown to most people. The big question is, WHY would this ambassador of “The City” (or the CROWN as it is more generally recognized) be visiting throughout Southeast Asia at this time?
